I?d been working out at Planet Fitness, and I have no complaints about the gym. ?I was just getting bored with my workouts. ?It was starting to get tougher and tougher to workout late evenings after work. ?And the motivation, it was gone too.
Even with boredom and no motivation, I knew I wanted to look better. ?More than anything, I needed to cut this pudge from around my midsection.
I figured it out; I saw something I wanted to try, without ever seeing it on TV or even seeing a workout. I saw men and women that did CrossFit, and they looked like I wanted to look.
So I joined a CrossFit gym about nine months ago, and I?m hooked.
I?ve worked out and trained for sports using weights ever since high school, but I?ve never gotten the results like I have with CrossFit.
So far the short and intense workouts have pushed me to the next level physically and mentally. ?I found that the intensity of the workouts forced me to prepare myself in ways that I’ve never done before. ?Now I have to be conscious of what I?m eating throughout the day, and question myself; is it a heavy lifting day? Do I need to eat more carbs? Did I drink enough water?
I also have to mentally prepare and accept the fact that I?m going to have to fight through the workout.
I love it. ?I love the preparation and mentality it takes to be successful in the gym. ?The best part is, I can apply the mind frame outside the gym and in the real world.
October of 2016 has been a great month, I’ve achieved something that honestly I didn’t set out to accomplish. ?I competed in two CrossFit competitions here in North Carolina.
FIRST CROSSFIT COMP
The first competition was Team Superfit in Apex, NC. ?My teammate and I qualified for the final workout and placed in fifth place overall in the scaled division. ?Not bad for my first swing at it.
SECOND CROSSFIT COMP
The second competition was two weeks after Team Superfit in Raleigh, and it was an individual competition. This time I won 1st place in the Scaled division.
MY TAKEAWAYS & LESSONS LEARNED
I thought it was important to share my personal victories with you. ?Not because I’m so proud of myself, but I think it’s important to see that to maintain a healthy lifestyle, whatever activity you choose to do, you have to enjoy doing it.
From this past year, it’s also made me realize how important it is to be in a group of like-minded people. ?It’s so hard to do anything alone. ?This realization is another takeaway that applies to life or business.
Two takeaways that I would give to anyone that wants to make fitness a priority in their life is:
1.) Find something that you enjoy doing.? Something that takes you away from the hustle and bustle of the day. ?One thing about it is when your running or lifting weights, you have no choice but to be in that moment. ?In a way it’s a form of meditation.
2.) Associate yourself with a group of like-minded people.? A group of people or community, with a shared interest, has so many benefits. ?They encourage you, and push you to be better, and secondly, ?which could be the greatest of benefits, they hold you accountable.
That’s all Folks, I hope you enjoyed.
Until next time! Peace & Love to you!
I was reading a little bit and I ran across this article. ?I know it can be really tough to fit a workout in your day, but do what you can with the time you have. ?Take a look at this (article) and see what you think, if you have 20 minutes in a day, you can make it happen.
